How I joined First Love Worship stars

Hi Readers, the purpose of this post is to make you realize that God has so many ways of talking to us and steering us to the path we are supposed to go and if we avail ourselves to him, he's going to drive you to your set destination. Remember God has your best interest at heart. I am currently part of the team (Worship Stars) that leads worship in my church (first love church). The thought of how I got to be part of this always intrigues me and is able to drown any thoughts of leaving the group. And oh yes I have had thoughts of leaving; natural response for any man when things become difficult. I feel we are going through a stage of growth and to any real growth, there are growing pains and you have to pull through it. One of the ways God keeps me in there is that he tells I did not bring myself, He brought me so I can't leave by myself.I joined the First Love Ayeduase at the latter part of 2014 somewhere around September. The church has a lot of opportunities to work for the Lord; we have the Dancing stars, Worshp Stars, Media Stars, Website Stars etc and these are all avenues for people to use their abilities to work for the Lord. So as a new person in the church and someone who did not want to be just a church goer, I wanted to do something. As someone who is always around computers, I was naturally drawn to the website stars. Website stars are the people who maintain the church website. That sounded cool. After church service on one Sunday, I went straight ahead to one of the leaders in charge of church website (Elder Kojo). I told him of my interest and then he told me something interesting. He asked me what I was doing before I joined the church. Well I was the an Elder in the campus church at Ashesi. That was technically what I was doing before I came to the First Love Church at Ayeduase. However, I did not tell him that. Why you ask? Well, at the time, I was hiding the fact that I was an Elder because I was did not want to get too busy with church. That has been like my life from High School and College that I thought to myself, if only I could get a break; I am sure God will understand. So I told him, I was part of the worship team which was true though. When I joined the campus church, the first thing I was into was leading worship in the church. That is what I flowed in till I was made Elder.

So he asked me to see the leader of the worhsip stars in church called Cofie and so I did. He directed me to him(Cofie) actually because I did not know him at the time. Why I think this is supernatural? When you approach any leader with the intent of joining their group, they will happily receive you, take your number and the rest is history. This was different. In this case, there was a "redirect" to where I God wanted me to be and yes, that is where I believe without a shadow of doubt that I am supposed to be.

And the Songs Came

Hi reader, this is an event that happened in my life and I want to share it with it you. On the 19th of May 2015, I headed out of my house to go get some money from the ATM and also to get a haircut. On the way, my leader of the worship team in my church texted me and asked me of my song list because I might be leading worship tomorrow evening for midweek service. Since I was out and about,I told I will get back to him after I get back to my house.  For me, preparing a song list is something serious, the songs shouldn't just be any song that can be used in worship, the song has to have a scriptural basis and all the songs selected have to be have a theme. So you see this is something I can't do walking about in town. I had to settle and do some praying and searching.

I got the ATM, took some money and headed to the barbering saloon close by. Of course, I waited for my turn,I began thinking of possible worship songs I would sing. It got to my turn after some few minutes like 2 or 3. As he started shaving, one of the songs that came to mind as I was waiting for my turn was "your presence is heaven to me". As he shaved,I began sing it softly. Then the amazing thing happened. The barber also decided to join in my little worship session I was having for myself. However, instead this barber singing my song, he began singing, "I give myself away" (I think that's what he probably heard me singing since I was humming and all). We sang that song together softly and harmonizing. After he finished with my hair, I descended from the barbering shop and another song came to my heart. It was "Lord, I wanna be more like you, Jesus..." You can imagine that after beginning a small session in the barbering salon, the experience was lingering and it was an awesome experience and I wanted to maintain it. Waiting for a tro, I continued to singing and didn't care who was looking. Got into the Tro, and guess what the driver was playing the Twi version of "I need thee very hour...". I continued flowing with that song. You know what is interesting? There was an underlying connection between these songs, you can call it a story. Here we go ...

The song "I need thee every hour", an expression of the need of God's presence. But why do you need his presence? Then comes "your presence is heaven to me..." And after you get into such an awesome presence, what do you do... "I give myself away"... Well you have given yourself away to the Lord for what?...  "I wanna be a vessel you work through ..." Well since I want a scriptural basis for things I deem spiritual happening in my life, God gave me the verse James 4:8 to back these songs. I have realized that you can live in the presence of God where ever you are.
