Jer 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer you
and tell you great and unsearchable
things you do not know."
When I was reading this particular verse one morning, I was prompted by Holy Spirit to go over it again and I got a very wonderful revelation. It was amazing what deep things were embedded in this verse. I would like to take the second part first. "... tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know". Now God is saying in addition to Him answering to your Call to Him, He is going to tell you, first of all, things that are Great. I don't know about you but God telling me Great things can never be underestimated. This is Great according to God's standards. What more could I ask for? And in addition to that, whatever He will tell me is unsearchable. That means man will try their hardest and will NOT be able to find it. They cannot even search for it! Its not surprising that atheists are still struggling with obtaining the knowledge about very earth they live in and what on earth they are here for. Some get frustrated and commit suicide with the reason that life is meaningless. The kind of meaning you are searching for can only be found in God. Only God can tell you. God is really a friend to us if you think about it. Imagine going to visit your office boss or your lecturer for some reason and after the purpose of the visit is accomplished, he talks to you about some deep things that only you by virtue of the fact you visited him got the privilege of knowing.
Now to the first part which to me was very interesting. Readers what made this verse different this time around was attention paid to the word ... "TO" as in "Call TO me". I was like, "What on this earth could the word "to" do to this verse."
The verse says call To me. Not Call On me. Or call Me. When you tell someone to call On you, you are implying that they should call on you when a certain condition is specified. For example, Call On me when you get tired OR call On me when you need help OR call On me when you feel like I should come in. Calling on someone always naturally has a condition attached to it so generally, the sentence construction for calling On someone is likely to be "Call On me when ..." Or "Call On me if..."
Also the verse did not say call Me. the words "call me" suggests that you have to your disposal a number of people you can call including the "me" person. Just like the contacts you have on your phone. Imagine you suddenly meet a friend in town and he/she asks you to call him/her. Calling that person doesn't mean you are not going to call those other contacts on you phone, does it?
Now the verse uses the word "to" some other versions use "unto" which pretty much carries the same meaning. Calling to someone or something is optionally conditional. In fact it is less conditional more often than not. Take for example how your phone works. If you want to achieve the aim of calling someone, I hope you are aware its not that straight forward. If you are a say a Tigo user and you want to make a call, 100% of the time, your phone will send a request to Tigo that it wants to communicate with some other phone. Using the phone as the example subject here, we know a phone can send text messages, make calls, send MMS and perform some other communication activities. However, regardless of whatever type or kind of communication that it wants to undertake, it first has to make a Call To its service provider in this case is Tigo. Whether rain or shine, day or night, it has to make a call To to its source before any of those mentioned functions can be performed. The phone using Tigo doesn't have a choice but to use the services of Tigo and nothing else. It cannot decide to use airtel for today and Tigo the next 3 days or anything of that sort. It is the same with Christians. We accomplish whatever we were made to accomplish by first contacting our source and life provider. And it is unconditional!
The Bible is so right in telling us to Call To God. Calling To God doesn't require a certain condition to be fulfilled before you do so. You don't have to get into trouble before you call to God. As His child, you do so always. In your shopping, eating, exercising, learning etc, He has to be involved. Also, the relationship between you and father is tightened by continually talking to Him about everything. Try it and see for yourself and enjoy the wonderful father-child relationship.
God loves you!
With So much love ...
Share this love with someone. You may never what someone may be going through unless you interact with the person and may never know what change you can impact on a person unless you initiate a certain kind of interaction.
Amen.
Be Blessed,
